4th day of SpringFest’10

Well the 4th day was not that exciting. After 3 days of enjoyment, its obviously time to have a good sleep. So i did that. Woke up at 10.30am. The only events i attended were PERPZ (DJ) at ~5pm and then a not so good concert by Pritam.
PERPZ was obviously good. The entire dance floor was full! no space to keep even a toe!
Pritam’s (so-called) concert started at ~9pm and went on till 11. The music band “Metro” was just standing there doing nothing. All the music was given by a DJ. The singers were Pritam(what he sings! yucks!), Aunik(he was good), Soham(good too), Hrehaan(dont know who! winner of some reality singing show Fame-X) and yes, Monali. She was the best…not for singing great, but for her looks and sexy dance steps. The songs played were hit ones, but the singers were not good + the music was not energetic enough.
That’s all for SpringFest 2010.
Next day started with as usual heavy dose lectures from 7.30 am onwards itself.

3rd day of SpringFest’10

Well it was dedicated to CENTRIFUGE, the intercollege dance competition. As Nikhil was participating in it, it was obvious that we were excited about it too. But calls for getting up early (~8 am)! Nisarg couldn’t control nature’s call at the last moment & Prashant as usual was late.Nikhil’s brother Hitesh had come too. We hurried & somehow left from the hostel at ~9.45 am. But the program was rescheduled at 10.30 am.

We grabbed the front seats, but as the whole group was there, i sat in an adjoining row. Later when i saw sideways, there was a beautiful Japanese girl writing something in her Diary(in Japanese ofcourse). And next to her the entire row was occupied by girls! What could i say! My all friends’ faces were like “Kya chalu hai”. But that was coincidence.

Anyways, the program was 1 hr TDS show followed by the actual competition. Nikhil performed on “Mera hi Jalwa(Wanted) and Adhire-Adhire(some south movie)”. Jalwa was good but Adhire-Adhire was superb. Especially Nikhil & Kaushik. Then in Nikhil’s 2nd performance was “Hamma-Hamma”…was awesome(1 word describes all)… and “Disco wale khisko(Dil bole Hadippa)”…which was overall OK, but Nikhil & his partner were so energetic, rest all were like…aaram se…

Among other TDS performances what i liked was Kaushik’s “Malsutti”(some popular south song). But his team members were not able to cope with his speed. Then “Kangana re Kangane re” was good. Purvita & that center girl(her name is Tulsi i guess) were good…(i know the names of the girls bcoz told me to watch them out).
Others were not that good. Salsa was not not salsa…& others were lacking synch.

Then the CENTRIFUGE started & bowled us over. There were some rocking performances by St. Xaviers (Ranchi), Lovely University, GIT(or something) from Noida and ofcourse IIT KGP.
IIT KGP’s concept was the UV light one. But they performed really well. It was a mix of different songs and they managed to create that “invisible” effect. AWESOME guys!

The event went on till 3pm non-stop(don’t know why there was no break!). We came out all tired & sleepy. But later Nikhil gave the good news that IIT KGP stood 2nd! yeppie! 1st was St Xaviers, Ranchi and 3rd was that Noida college. We shared 2nd spot with Lovely university.

We came back & slept…Ghode bech ke. Before going to dinner Nikhil said that 2 girls have called him to dance in PERPZ(a DJ event sortof). He asked for company & i was accepted(How can anyone reject! Only Nisarg can!). We hurried our dinner & caught up with Purvita & Poonam but PERPZ was over. We then tried out Anubhav(an event by a slide guitarist)…but it was all classical sortof.

Then it went to Jnan Ghosh stadium for a concert by Indian Heavy Metal Rock Band “Krypto”. It was good but the bass of the speakers left our heart…actually entire body shaking. The lead guy was using the F-word tooooo often…like an adjective in every sentence!! i’ll remember that. 2-3 Hard Rock dance steps & i was down with headache & Neck pain. Purvita was enjoying it a lot more than the other 4 of us (Nikhil, his brother, me & poonam).
After that MIND-BOGLING performance we had some snacks & coffee etc at veggies & JCB. Chatted a lot & returned at ~12 midnight.

That’s how the day went! I enjoyed it a lot, especially the company of girls (hehe). And yes, i took a girl double seat for the first time! Now thats an achievement of the day! (It wasn’t smooth though as i am not used to taking double seat. And i apologize for the inconvenience to that brave girl, Poonam).

Tomorrow we are having “Jal” at 7pm…

2nd day of SpringFest’10

Today’s day was the best day in IIT KGP so far. Though it started on a low note, gotup late & there were no events of my interests. Cyber games was cancelled. But then there was MTV Stunt Mania at 3.30 pm and it rocked! Those 4 bikers performed some really great stunts! I never saw such stunts from so close!

But earlier to that we saw a really really beautiful gal near the food court!!! Me, Nisarg & Tanmay were like ooooooooohhhhhhhh!!! I have never seen a more beautiful girl (no offense to those whom i have met before this but she was awesome, way beyond imagination!). That too sooo close! Later we realised she was Rhea, an MTV VJ. She was there at the time of Stunt mania too.

Then the 20 min were pure awesomeness! We friends sat on the lawns of Vikramshila and watched around. There were superb, amazing, hot, beautiful girls all around! All were > 9 on 10. (Rhea can b 50 on 10). From where do they come??

ok, ahemm. After this was the time for “Kailasa”, the Kailash Kher Band. The setup at Jnan Ghosh Stadium was awesome, a really professional one for a live concert. High quality music speakers, 2 big enough screens & excellent lighting.

He came on-time (7pm). And after he started there was pure excellence…he sang so well i can’t tell! And his band – what music they play yaar!!! really awesome! You could not differentiate whether it is live or a video –so much perfection! Actually a live concert is way better than a video. Even in that highly cold night, we were standing in an open ground and were enjoying. Nisarg missed it due to headache(or may be bcoz of his seminar next week).

Well i said it was my best day in IIT so far bcoz of Rhea, MTV Stunt Mania, Kailash Kher and all those superb hotties(how else can i describe all those!) roaming around that u can’t find anywhere else than an IIT’s cultural fest. Today’s girl-to-boys ratio was > 70%(may be bcoz i was watching girls only!). And the ratio of good-looking girls was > 95%. We friends were discussing “all” of these at night before going to bed.

1st day of SpringFest’10

Well, i slept early yesterday(12.30 pm). Got up early today, had some really “heavy dose” lectures in the morning. But that was it. After lunch and a BIG nap, we headed for the first event of SF 2010.

It was the Eastern Technology Music Society(ETMS) event. Basically, all singing and some terrific music. We reached a bit late, at ~ 5pm. So we had to sit on the steps of the Netaji Audi as the audi was jam-packed. The songs like “Dil se”, “Tu Aashiqui hai”, “Tu Jaane Naa” were all amazing. I really liked that singer of Dil se. Then there was a song of “Indian Ocean” band(that’s what it is i guess!). The guitar in that performance was AWESOME. Never seen such before. Overall it was a great event- with great singing & even more terrific music(especially the drummer set. i think its called ‘percussion’) from ETMS boys.

In between, there were nice girls moving around. I wonder how the girls-to-boys goes up from a mere 10% to ~50% in SF. In addition, the ratio of “good looking” girls rises steeply from 10% to more than 70-80% in SF. Enjoyed it!

Anyways, we had dinner in mess(saving money is a good thing). Then we were back for “Jazz” at the Kalidas Audi. Two famous(i didn’t know) Jazz performers- Gilad (percussion) and Freddie Bryant(Guitarist) were called. The Audi was jam-packed here too. The music was good – as Nikhil says about Jazz “It is a kind of music to be enjoyed with a girlfriend, in some silent place with some nice food”. Its true but we had none of them. anyway, Gilad stirred up the environment and involved the people to this tune. That was the best part of it.

Jazz was over by 9pm. Then the “Hasya Kavi Sammelan” was supposed to start at 10 pm(initially scheduled at 8pm). But the crowd was pouring into the “Open Air Theatre” near CS dept from 9.15 itself. Nisarg was reluctant to go (as he is having his seminar next week- oh, this stuff never leaves your mind!). But Nihkhil & me got him convinced. We also joined the mad crowd, got seated & waited & waited & waited….9.30…9.45…10…10.15…(we’ll b starting in another 10min)…10.25…(we’ll b starting in 10-15min, have patience…)…wtf- we said & left. Nisarg was like “maine bola tha na”. Nikhil & me agreed to listen to him next time.

In between we discussed many things- from poor mgmt of events in fest, Nikhil’s GF(my favourite topic and a detailed one, hehe), TI’s microcontrollers (to keep Nisarg engaged as he was trying to leave after every 15min), TDS girls, SF girls, etc etc etc…(all should not be said here).

Well, actually, Nikhil got a chance to talk to Pobitra(thats what they pronounce), a (good looking(mentioning bcoz there really a few of them)) TDS girl. She even took his no. Me & Nisarg were like- shya, no luck for us. But on the contrary we are lucky not to go for a “Run through” of TDS at 11pm, that too in this severe cold!

Well that was it. Enjoyed the 1st day of SF….except for that kavi sammelan everything was good.
Hoping for a great 2nd day!
